As a sub 50 poster I will weigh in.
It's useful. It helps keep the for sale and pay it forward section from being abused by those not vested in the site/community. On another forum I frequent with no rules on post count for the For Sale section you regularly see first post being in that section with little to no info, no following of forum rules etc. It makes for a messy For Sale section and puts more work on the mods to keep everyone in line.
By the time you reach 50 posts you have read hundreds more (if not thousands) and you are truly a part of the community and will most likely be respectful of others in a transaction involving money or goods.
I absolutely agree. It's sort of like on the job training. You don't get to perform "solo" until you have shown you are knowledgeable about the subject. Plus there are many other sites if you are looking to strictly sell items. I feel like HF is haning out, no pun intended, with your friends talking about hammock stuff and feeding creative ideas to the hobby...err addiction.
Hey guys,
I am a moderator on another forum and we have the same (or very similar) post count rule for the same reasons (if I understand correctly what I read) as Hammock Forums.
It can be difficult to balance the needs or wants of forum members (or visitors for that matter) with the task of running a successful forum in an equitable manner.
I would not be a member here if I felt the Admins & Moderators did not do a good job.
I like to go solo - off trail - immerse myself in the area - explore - eat really well - and make it back home.
As someone under 50 posts I can confirm I can see all posts in the Trade, For Sale and Want to Buy Sections the only section I cannot see yet is the Pay it Forward. I can't start a new thread in the For Sale section but I can read all threads and reply to them. I have no issue with this and at the very least it promotes participation.

OP, I'm not sure I understand the complaint.
Didn't you just purchase something yesterday in the 'for sale' forum?
Or are you trying to sell an item in which case you are correct, you do need the 50 posts.
Think of it as an online version of a guy named Guido looking you up & down, patting you up & down while asking "You wearing a wire?" A much more friendly version of it, but you get the drift.
Happy Trails to one and all.
Enjoy the outdoors wisely and elevate your perspective.

I am much happier with the system here compared to the exhaustive rules listed on the OP's archery forum. If a 50 post count helps avoid the mess created at the archery place, then good for us!
