FL > NWF Panhandle > Central time zone dwellers!

So some time end of Feb or 1st week of march i was thinking of heading down a portion of the FL trail that goes from fountain to SR 20. It's a 10 mile hike from parking spot to primitive camp site along the Econfina Creek. Anyone who wants to join is more than welcome. The more the merrier.

We dont have to hike a long way. I am a member of the FL trail association and we can camp pretty much anywhere along the trail as long as we keep our footprint small. I have been scouting some great locations with alot of hang opertunities

I'm in Walton County. All of these areas are great hangs. We stayed late last summer at Open Pond just north of Baker off of AL 137. Think is was a USDA camp ground. Had primitive and camper/rv sites. Nice lake and 5-7 miles of trail. I'm interested in any hangs in the Panhandle.

March 7th and 8th at Rattlesnake Lake we have decided to set up camp. There is alot of room for other hangers as well as tents. ALL ARE WELCOME. We have reserved the whole area. At this point you will be responsible for your own food and water. There is parking and portapottys close. So far we have two games planned, viking chess and horseshoes. We are also just off the FL Trail so there are great hiking opertunities. I will provide directions and GPS Cords soon. If you want to attend plz RSVP. Any questions or comments plz PM me and I'll give u my cell number.

Econfina Creek section and Rattlesnake Lake in particular is an excellent place to host a hang. I've done it many times with and without my scout troop. I've made the best trail maps available of any I have ever seen of the Econfina Creek section. PM me with your email and I will send you the pdf. I probably can't make it to the hang but will come by if I can. It's always good to meet fellow hangers.

I'm tentative for then. Have a friend or two that may be interested as well. I'll know for certain after the 17th. Have to schedule my mother for a colon surgery which I expect will happen within the first week of March. I'll know more about what shift I'll be covering for her recovery

. Weather is great and it's a good time to hang! Rattlesnake Lake is a cool area.
