Cats and the Indoor Hammock

Okay, I am a full-timer and have a Mayan hammock, and I'm going to be caring for a cat, who likes to sleep with me, for a month. All I can envision is cat claws getting caught in the threads and destroying my hammock. Even if I use my freedbird for the month, instead, I can only envision cat claws sticking through and getting caught on the silnylon. Ha ha!

I know there are a few of you who sleep with your cats in a hammock. Can you please tell me how you avoid the above scenario?

Keep a blanket in the hammock at all times. I have three cats who all love to hang and haven't had an issue yet. They don't generally use their claws unless they think they're falling

And do they just jump in, or do you have something they climb on outside the hammock, like a chair, that they climb off of into the hammock?

Look at trimming the claws really short or using soft paws.

My cats will hang with me - well, on me - but won't get in own their own with out me in it. They do jump in when I am in it, however. They will snuggle on top of me, or a blanketed space next to me, but dont like being directly on the hammock. I think it feels too unstable for them. Every cat's different though.

My cats just jump in, usually on me, then settle in where they want. My two boys will hang without me, but my girl won't. She wants to be on top of me at all times, she's declawed (not my doing) but the boys both have their claws

My Boss, IE Max the cat sleeps on my chest every night, just jumps right in from the coffee table close by. Occasionally he gets hopped up on kitty crack and tries to climb the steep foot end of the hammock. I cringe every time. He still has his back claws. The Argon 1.6 seems to be pretty snag resistant though. Not a single one.
