    New Utah dude

Hey everyone I'm also new to all this I first got interested while ago but now getting in to it.

I'm from taylorsville Utah and would like to go out on outings and hang...

I currently don't have a Hammock to hang in yet so looking around here will be great help. I'm open to any ideas. My body type it average I'm 5'9" about 190lbs (I go up and down.)

I want to start summer camping and then move in to year round.

I'm getting excited to be here and be apart of this welcoming community.

    Welcome to the forums neighbor.

Over the past couple years there has been a Utah hang in early summer. Keep an eye out to see if anyone organizes one this year.

I have 2-4 hangs that I host up here in Idaho each year as well if your up for a drive north. The first one will be our Spring Meat and Greet in late May.

I purchased several hammocks to start ranging in quality. You might save yourself the trouble and just check out the "For Sale" forum & get someone else's cast off. I have had over 20 hammocks to date and have sold off about half of them after only a couple of uses. There are many new or almost new hammocks that can be had for a discount.

You might consider getting one with a bug net to start, as sleeping in the mountains in the summer usually means bugs. You will probably want to get an UQ of some kind as a second purchase. The hammocks are very cold when the weather is below 65*, as the wind will pull the heat off the bottom if no insulation is used. A tarp would be a great third choice.

I've been doing alot of research and I think I have my heart set on a hh explore zip the only thing I wish it had that extra slot for the pad, I forget what that is called.

Double layer with an opening for a pad.

I'd assume you mean a side zipper opening. If you have a traditional Hennessey, then they have an opening down the center of the bottom and you couldn't get through it with a pad in place. I don't think they even make on like that.

If you're not in a hurry to buy one, you might find a local hang in your area and go visit. Lots of folks like to gab about gear & show off what they have. Lots of hands on comparison avaliable.
