    -10*F, wind 25mph, T-shirt and UGQ 0*F quilts

Last night I stayed out behind my house, testing gear. I didn't mean to, but I beat my low record of -6*F. Forecast was -2*F. I had on insulated nylon pants, a t-shirt, regular socks. My winter tarp took care of the wind, Under Ground Quilts took care of the cold. Once I was warm in my hammock, I took off my jacket and stuffed it down by my legs. I have the custom Viking Shield top quilt with insulated foot box, 55" x 7', pix here; https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...6-VIKING-POWER!!!
I am 5'10", 180, but went with a big quilt because I sleep under the covers and sometimes my pitbull sleeps with me. I tucked the top quilt under my head, and rested my head on my hat. I slept great, didn't even get chilly. UGQ are conservative with their temp ratings, but I couldn't believe it hit -10*F and I didn't freeze, especially with no base layer or jacket on. I slept on my side, and opened a gap in the top quilt to vent. No frost bib for me!

Yeah feller...way to go on getting lwer temps in the hammock.
Slept out back myself last night. Got to -14º. Uploading a video right now on my winter tarp. Did use my frost bib/breath catcher and it was full of frost. I am a back sleeper though and like a mummy in my hammock.

Big 2 thumbs up there..That's Awesome

I am going for my record low tonight of about 15*f using 20* Quilts....given the afternoon test just wrapped up I am good for the night test.
When the finances allow for some 0* UGQ gear I would like to push the big -40 club

The easy part is the sleeping. That's the reward. The hard part is acquiring the gear, and set up / tear down in those temps. I worked almost 30 hours to get just the top quilt. I'd like Shug to make a video on set up / tear down when you are dealing with ridiculous cold. Thick gloves ruin dexterity. I use thin knit gloves that get cold pretty quick.

Literally just press pay on a Underground full length 0'f with 3 oz overstuff camo with orange interior.
I was hoping for comfort in that range. Cant wait to use it.

I guess I've never really video myself taking it down or putting it up in the good cold because I'm busy taking it up or putting it down! I usually just wear gloves that are fingerless and make it fast and snappy never really had a problem even on the -40 trip.
In the future maybe I'll try to film that part… Nothing magical about it but I never do wear thick gloves while doing it.
