    11' tarp and 11' hammock

I'm going to be ordering a new 11' PolyD hammock from Dutch along with the bug net.

And I'm wanting to get a new winter tarp and am thinking of the super fly but my question is how well does the 11' tarp work woth the 11' hammock.

I think it will be just fine as when I add a RL to the hammock that will shorten it up a good bit.

plus going to get the poles for the pull outs on it too.

I have an 11' hammock with an 83% ridgeline and an 11' tarp. What kind of suspension will you be using? It's important that you have some kind of water break on your suspension, and the water break needs to be covered by the tarp. I use speed hooks with a continuous loop on the hammock, and the speed hooks serve as a great water break. They are covered from above by the tarp (just barely, only a couple inches to spare) but if the rain were to blow sideways very much, my hammock suspension could end up wet. I'm strongly considering moving to a 12' tarp.

An 11 ft. tarp works fine with an 11 ft. hammock (assuming you have a hammock ridgeline to shorten it up). Besides, the Superfly has doors which will also protect you.

I'm thinking I will make the 11' work. As for the water break as no matter what suspension I use I will be tying a piece of cotton to the line just before the hammock as this has served me and my son this past weekend with over 1" of rain in 24 hours.

and that was with whoopie slings larks headed right to the hammock with no other water break.

but am planning on using speed hooks with new hammock.

this is getting better planned out for this setup now that I am better informed about the things I like and what works for me.

Yeah the 11 foot tarp should work great assuming you are using a structural Ridgeline on our hammock? Should have plenty of room.

I have an 11' hammock with a SR. I run a DIY 11' winter tarp. Plenty of space inside and plenty of coverage over the ends of my hammock.

I'll be the voice of dissent here -- I have a 11' PolyD with a SRL and a 11' SF tarp. In the rain, it's very close -- to the point where I was not comfortable. That said, I am using traditional whoopie slings so I don't have the built-in water break that the whoopie hooks provide.

Edit: oops, just noticed how old this post is -- sorry about that.
