First cold weather hang with the spindrift. Any advise?

Heading out to the backyard tomorrow for my first real cold weather hang. Its supposed to be 5 F or-15C. My gear is a ridgerunner ,spindrift, UGQ ambush UQ 0* and two sleeping bags for top insulation. I don't really want to setup my superfly. Any thoughts as to if the spindrift will give me enough wind protection. This is my first time using the spindrift.

In my experience, you will greatly benefit from the spindrift. What temp rating sleeping bags will you be using? Buddy of mine had to vent his last night at 17F° with a 20° Burrow. Bottom insulation 40°F JRB with pad in the sleeve. Watch the condensation... it will happen.

They are 20*F bags. I'm planning on venting the zipper 12 inches or so to cut down on the condensation.

I hope so. Its calling for 20-25 mph winds so im hoping the spindrift will be an adequate wind block.

Typically I would hang my tarp as well in those conditions. May want to have it ready to deploy if needed.

I'm glad you pitched the tarp. I hung in 30+ winds the other night with the Spindrift and tarp pitched. I didn't have the tarp pitched low or have the doors all the way closed, but I did have the Spindrift zippered all the way with no venting, and I still felt quite a bit of air moving around.

    Have fun!

I should have pitched it lower but its where its staying now. I could only get my stakes in about three inches before they started to bend as the ground is solid. if I try and stake it again I think they will bend even more so Im leaving it as is.
