Just wondering if there are any hangers here that camp near the ocean in the damp environment there of with UQ experience. I know some schools of thought say over stuff can be a benefit but i'm looking for some real world experience on the subject.

Not so much with the ocean, but you know what Florida swamps are like...
My DIY quilt did just fine at both Matanzas and Rice Creek on my cross state bike trip back in March. Of course, it's pretty close to 25 percent overstuffed and has an M50 shell, so it's fairly water resistant. It also did just fine in two days of fairly constant rain in Old Town on the same trip.
Anyway, I'd trust it to its designed rating (20*), pretty much no matter what the humidity is doing. It's standard down, not water resistant.
Hope it helps!

There's a 4-day kayaking event in Delaware that I go to every year in October. We stay in our hammocks, under the pines, maybe 100 yards from the beach. The last two years were complete washouts. A Nor'easter pounded us for the full weekend in 2013 and constant (but slightly milder) wind and rain tormented us in 2014. Our quilts have the DWR nylon and HyperDry down treatment, and we had no problems with soggy quilts in the least. A previous UQ had no overstuff, but last year, both had 2 oz. We were both very warm and toasty at night, with temps into the mid-40's as the rain came down.
[Edit] Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever had UQ moisture issues from rain, anywhere. Surface condensation issues on the fabric only with dew and frost, yes, but not with rain.

I haven't experienced any issues on the Olympic Peninsula where I camp along the beach and in, technically, a rain forest.
I also spent 6 nights on the PCT last Labor Day where it rained heavily most of the days or was surrounded by alpine mist and camping next to lakes. Even when splatter was spraying my UQ, I thought I'd get some issues, but I did not.
Where are you in BC?
I am on Vancouver Island good info thanks everyone.
