Hiking/Hanging advise for Branson, MO area

The wife is thinking about the family vacation and Branson has entered into the picture. Last year I got a section hike on the AT because she wanted to go to Pigeon Forge, so I want to be able to get a few days hiking in prior to them meeting me in Branson.

So here is what I'm thinking about. Is there a nice area, must be hammock friendly, that is to say they allow hammocks, in the area, say 30 mile radius around Branson, MO. Another option would be for me to do something along the way and the wife and kids could gather me up as they drive through with minimal re-routing or chance of her getting lost in the process. I did this last year where they just picked me up on their way to Pigeon Forge. I live in MS.

Please, my Midwest brethren, any and all options and advice is greatly appreciated. Not sure what time of year it will be but likely a May or June trip.

With you coming from MS, maybe check into the Ozark Highlands trail in AR. I know there are a few trail options around Branson/Springfield as well, but I'm not aware of any longer trails down there. The Ozark Trail here in MO is great, but I think it would be too far out of the way.

Hercules Glades Wilderness. It is about the most remote hiking, camping area in The Ozarks. Here are a few threads about it.
