    My first "knotty mod"

I sewed up an eleven foot hammock in olive drab 1.9 0z from rip stop by the roll. I love this color! After hemming the edges, I folded down two inches of each short end and sewed two stiches. I used XTracker's (as well as others I'm sure) method of using a zip tie to cinch the fabric. Also used XTracker's method of larks heading a continuous loop to hammock. I added the "knotty Mod" on both long sides. One 30 inches from foot end and the other 30 inches from the head end and both have 30 inch shock cord in the hem with micro cord locks at each end. It wasn't bad sewing it up and I love the way it looks.

I haven't yet seen a knotty mod in person: What exactly does it do? Is it a way to pull up the extra fabric?

Yes thats the idea. Funny I haven't seen one in person eitheruntil I made this one. I have experimented with different methods of making the sides tighter i.e. different whipping/folding methods and they all worked but I really wanted that small bunched up ball of fabric on the ends. It just looks cleaner and more professional. I finished the hammock late last night and haven't had a chance to hang it yet but I will post some pictures when I do. The shock cord helps draw the sides tighter without putting too much stress on the seams when sitting on the side or entry/exit.

Thank you for the link! Good information.
How do you like it? Does it feel like you're getting too much preasure on your feet, giving flat/pressure spots?
Nice work on the DIY. Looks very professional!

    Thanks!
I am one of those lucky people that have never had any issues with any hammock that I have made (all 11'). It seems any hammock I get into feels great. Some of mine have a slight ridge in the middle and I see where people might have a problem with calf pressure but it doesn't seem to bother me. Having said that, I still have not hung this particular hammock yet. I plan to hang it in the back yard this evening.. I will let you know

Ok, so i got home this evening and rushed out to hang my "knotty mod" hammock to get some pics before it got dark. Still have to splice my ridge line but I think I have found what I have been searching for. I love this hammock! I like the way is lays and I like the look also. I may find some things to tweek once I get some nights in it but my first impression is this will be my go to hammock. Big thanks to Knotty for the idea and trying new things. Hangers helping Hangers...love this forum!
