I like to do a fun little thing on most of our outings, so since we are visiting the Irish Wilderness, I thought this time we could each come up with an original Limerick to share around the fire the first night. I'll have a prize for the best one. They'll be judged on proper Limerick format, humor, delivery, and extra points if it's about hammocks, hiking or backpacking. Have fun with it!

    Here's an example for you...

There once was a man from Peru
Who had a lot of growing up to do,
    He’d ring a doorbell,
    then run like hell,
Until the owner shot him with a .22.

Gideon is right about the bears. I saw one backpacking that trail two years ago. (240 pound sow per their tracking web site.) Not a lot of water but there are a couple of springs. If you want to add a couple of miles to the trip, White Creek Float Camp is a good place to hang. I hiked it in the Spring and the ticks were terrible.

I looked at the detail in the link. This so called 'Irish Wilderness' isn't even in Ireland!!!

I know this is still a long way off but wanted to bring it to the front to remind everyone to put it on their calenders. This is a great 3 day hike and the eleven point river is really nice. I'd encourage folks to think about bringing an ultralight spinning or fly rod in order to spend an hour or two fishing on the eleven point river.

Also need to remember to be able to suspend a food bag from the trees; really need to in this area.

    Enjoy the summer!!
