I hope others will try their hand at a list too. It is just for fun, but I do have some gear laying around, so maybe a give-a-way box could be put together for the cheapest and/or lightest solution.

Modify to use a smaller blue tarp pitched as a diamond.
Modify down to 2 stakes and use use cheaper walmart stakes while you are there getting sleeping bag/blue tarp.
    Last:
Amsteel junkie are ya? You don't need a ridge line or woopies - a fixed loop locking Brummel will work to larks head amsteel on hammock and a Slippery Larks Head will work to easily attach/adjust at the tree huggers.
So, Modify amsteel requirement to be 25 feet of amsteel - 8 feet + the loop berry for each hammock end (X2) and about 4 feet each tarp tie out (X2)

Bravo for you - you have the only viable solution so far and it has withstood more than a half dozen critiques.
Thanks Oldpappy. I figure why not go all out and give the guy a ridgeline, and quick and easy whoopie slings to use, you know? That's what I would want (oh wait, I already have them, and made them myself, and didn't charge myself for the labor of doing so

Here's a new master list, complete with links, shipping quotes to PA where I live, labor costs added, and even simply supplies like duct tape or glue are added to the prices. (and P.S. — You guys are lucky I'm bored as hell this Saturday morning to write this all up!)

    $17.58 60x126" crinkle tafetta tablecloth ($12.04+5.54 ship)

    $33.25 to Dutch ($7.85 for 4' tree huggers + $21 for 100' amsteel + 4.40 shipping)

My favorite YouTube videos on whoopie slings and soft shackles are 10 + 15 minutes long, so that's $3.65 labor

    $14.88 shipped for 40º bag

$18.04 for 2x Walmart Stansport CCF foam pad

Do people use Duct tape to DIY the sides for the foam pad? So $1 worth of Duct tape or glue? + 15 minutes to tape them together? $2.19 labor

8x10' tarp (turn diagonal) $3.20 shipped

+ 10 minutes to tie on amsteel ridgeline and tie-outs = $1.46 labor

And screw pre-made tent stakes, we’re going with 1/2" hardwood dowel for $1.54 + 5 minutes to break into 4 pieces for 4x stakes = $0.73 labor
    ____________________

    $97.52 …and if I forgot something, whatever.

Oh, and if you give me the MPG of your car + how far away Walmart and Home Depot is from you (any toll roads?) I can calculate that into the cost. Are we charging for the labor for the 3x walks to the mailbox to pickup the packages we're having shipped? (and if there's any doubt, I'm joking around here, not simply being a ****

Weight is nearly impossible to calculate without buying the items (or already having super-similar items of your own on hand to weigh). Do you know what a Jansport CCF pad weighs? How about just a 12" strip of it, 2 feet long for the sides? How to calculate that? How much does 10 feet of duct tape weigh? Ducktape brand or Home Depot duct tape? Or if you use glue to fasten the two CCF pads together, how much does 0.74636 ounces of glue weigh???? ...not realistic.

But if you say 12 ounces for the hammock (my Dutch PolyD weighs 9.38), 4 ounces for suspension, 1 pound for foam, 2 pounds for sleeping bag, 1 pound for tarp....you're right around that mark.

This might work for the penny pincher.
    1) Hennessy Diamond Tarp 12' RL w/mason line guys (twig stakes? 6.8 oz $19.00
    2) 60' braided masons line weight included above $1.05
    3) 2 - small s biners for tarp rl 0.5 oz $3.49
    4) Tablecloth blank (masons line for RL) 15 oz $17.00
    5) 2 - 7" zip ties from business stock nilish $.10
    6) 2 - 15'' continuous loops .3 oz $6.00
    7) 2 - harbor freight cargo straps 3 oz $4.00
    8) 2 - cinch buckles 2 oz $5.00
    9) Walmart CCF Pad and 1/4th of a 2nd 10 oz $12.00
    10) Ozark Trail 40* Mummy Bag 40 oz $25.00
    11) Diy Hug Bugnet (from about 1/3 a coghlans bugnet from walmart) 5 oz $4.00
Slave labor from daughter for bugnet (rules did not exclude the use of indentured servants)
    40% online cupon code for walmart (save $26.69 items 3, 9, 10, & 11)
    Total $78.74 at 5.17 lbs

One could use an Ozark Mountain Trail 30* down bag picked up for $39.95 purchased during their sale last year to get the weight down to 3.85 lbs, but the cost would skyrocket to $103.74.

One could opt for an UQ over the pads for $40 more using this interesting 50" x 60" throw with nylon shell and bag. Not sure the weight or how warm it would be but it looks pretty good for a presewn UQ with minimal alteration needed.

Purchase $100 worth of wine, whiskey and beer. Invite 5 friends to an Ultra Light Backpackers" convention. When less than $5 of booze is left quietly step over passed out participants, grab the nicest gear and walk away. DuctTape, you can drop my prize package off at my house.

    Thank you,

I'd like to see 5 pounds on that budget. It will take creative thinking to get something that light that might be comfortable versus being purely for survival. Frankly it can be challenging to get under that weight when you have five times the budget.
