Ok, "good news/bad news" time. I am getting tired of doing this.
Good news; I called and made the reservations today. Yay!!
Bad news; they hit us up for more money. Boo!!!
I made the reservations, the 6 sites for friday and saturday nights and one site for thursday night, planning to pay for that one myself (anyone who hangs that night is my guest unless there are more than one site can hold, then you are on your own). They gave me the total....$186.50.$132 plus taxes and "fees!" Apparently, 1) you must make reservations and 2) if you make reservation there is a "convenience fee." Per site. How nice.
We have the funds already. No worries. I just want to keep everyone informed and see if there are any major objections to this highway robbery before I pay it? The reservations are made and we have two weeks to pay. I am going to go ahead and do so on monday if I do not hear a "hue and cry" about it. I am, however, not a happy camper. Hopefully, as we grow larger, this is the sort of thing we can influence.
Do remember that $11 of that, oh and I suppose a $5 one night "fee" is mine for thursday night. I can wedge 4-6 people in that site that night. If more show up on thursday night, you will have to split the cost of another site for the one night since that is not actually part of our hang. i am just getting there a night ahead so I can be there first thing on friday and have things ready to go.

$5 fee per site for overnight reservations...I guess that's one way to make extra money...

Yes Wraith, good point, Va state parks do charge a Parking fee. CRAP! it should be included with camping, I would think. I will check when I call about paying. I will need a count on vehicles. I think I can demand and get passes for everyone. Since we are paying so much. If not, I might be able to talk Cameron Lipscomb into coughing some up. If that fails...yes, there is a parking fee. I don;t think about it since I buy yearly SP passes every year. oooooooooh. I have a yearly pass!!!! It is supposed to get me a discount on camping!!! hang on, making a call....

dang it, they are closed. Someone remind me, in the morning, to call them while I am driving to frosty butt. It is either 10 or 20% off because I have a yearly pass, on camping reservations. Not much maybe but hey, I'll take it, that is money we can put toward the next HANG!!
