KY > big south fork advice

I'm planning a trip to big south fork in early March. I'd like to do about 30 miles or so and camp two nights. So many trails! I'd like some advice on some routes or highlights or anything really. I can do a loop or point to point. Any advice is greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

Not far from my old stomping grounds before moving to these flatlands!

I'd suggest anywhere near Laurel Creek, Station Camp, Bandy Creek area. Twin Arches are nice as well. Post in the Southeast forum, or for some thorough suggestions PM Hangnout and tell him I suggested you do so.

Although trail mileage is not listed the NatGeo map # 241 Big South Fork will help along with Google.

I've led several over-night hikes in and through the Big South Fork and posted photo albums/trip reports for each on Meetup.com under "Nashville Backpacker," in case you'd like to see pics and read captions. The hike options are numerous!

If your looking for some information from a "local", I suggest calling one of the many horse camps in the area your looking at. They may be able to give you some trail highlights, local food stops, etc. that your not going to find on maps. I've ridden horseback on many trails in the Bandy Creek and Station Camp areas before getting out of keeping horses and trail riding. Trails are good and you shouldn't have too much of a problem finding trees to hang from. I wish I could get back down that way and hike it myself.
