Decided against a top closure. I'm happy with it as a 3S piece of gear.

I really, really like this idea! I love reading your posts on your UL stuff and designs. It helps me come at some of my weight challenges from a more creative angle!

Hi MDSH --
I like your design. It is similar to a design I planned a while back but never began making it. Here's a drawing of what I wanted to make next time I began sewing. I was planning to leave the bottom part open for easy entry and exit.

Thanks, Bryan.
Yes, mine is completely open at the bottom and hangs straight down for easy entry/exist.
In Georgia you might become a poached hanger surrounded so closely by all that sil, if I understand your design correctly.
I expect to tent mine out for ventilation in the heat of summer here or, say, in Arkansas, where I go sometimes. Don't expect to need that in the mountains of NM where I also like to go.

Cool!
Saw your description of this in another thread and couldn't quite wrap my head around what you were describing. Now that I see it, I like the design very much. Nice work!
Got a chance to use this last night in cool breezy weather and it works fantastic!
The solid panels kept the wind off my head, feet, and UQ.
But I could lift my head a little and see out. Didn't use a tarp.
It was one of the best nights I've had in a hammock. Slept 'til after 7 this morning when the dove started up.
