Interesting construction; I like the idea. Velcro is going to add a lot of weight to that, proportionately. Perhaps snaps or buttons/toggles might be a better idea, as you don't need a perfect seal with the top cover--just enough to eliminate strong wind. Normally, I like Velcro for tight seals, but that isn't really needed here with all of the noseeum underneath the top cover.
Just a thought.

MDSH - that is very unique. I like it!! Nice job!
Sweet! I've been contemplating something similar, but with one end formed by a bishop-bag big enough to hold my hammock, quilts and the rest of the bug netting and under-protector. Too many ideas, not enough making time.
Yes, genixia! I thought when I was rolling it up that the peak beak would make a good bag. But it would need to be tougher than the .31 ounce CF material.
One peak beak made of silnylon or silpoly would add weight but it would be a great way to stuff the hammock, suspension, UL UQ, UL TQ, and things that we need in the hammock at night.
Another advantage is that it would make the baby even uglier!

That's pretty cool. Did you prototype this first, or just order the cf and go for it?

The last photo looks like there should be a "just married" sign around somewhere. I dub your invention the "hammock veil".
