    true... that may add just enough tension to keep it from sliding.
    i had thought of putting an alligator clip on each end of a short piece of shock cord to use to help hold the webbing on those rare occasions that i have to use a tree so big that i can't reach around.
    that same cord could be used for your suggestion too.

    I just use a couple of slip knots. Easy to get out when its cold and wet and not a hard knot to tie. But then I did motify my huggers

    I've used slipknots on a biner before...works just like your ring. Very convenient. I was worried about it binding or slipping but it was never a problem. I never tried it in the rain, though.
