    titanium guy tensioners

So I was playing around with titanium.... like you do, and I came up with this idea, and it seems to work.

I'm not much of a video expert so I have done a short series of photo's to describe what goes on.

In this first shot the loop is what would go away to your ground stake etc and the other end obviously to your tarp. The whole set up can slide up or down the main rope to where you want it.

In this pic you can see a close up of the knot used to capture the rope end, and the way the loop end runs thru the tensioner .

Make an overhand loop in the rope where you want it to lock ( usually the rope will now be under tension as you have cinched it up from the ground peg )

Fold this over the "buckle" and pull tight, this has now locked the loop in place

Weight of these unit is tiny 5 weigh less than a gram.

If you havent figured out what they are or can't get hold of any, I have them available, stock is limited as I can only drink/ make six or so an evening

    JohnD,
Cool idea! But I wonder if your guy line's already in tension, can you pull enough to make the loop?

I'm thinking someone else on here had a post about using the tabs, but maybe a different way ... ?

I think these things are made from carbon nano-tubes. The domestic beer companies have been funneling the science community tips for years.

The way I work my tarp is that one whole side is using shock cord tensioners ( 6 inch loops ) with the looped on guy line so when adding the tensioner knot I "borrow" tension from that side of the tarp.
Its really just a way to soak up a bit of lead length, without having to continually shorten / adjust via knots or have the guy ropes at ugly angles / distances.

I love this idea. It's great to see pioneers using high tech, ultralight materials to advance the world of hammock camping into the realms of what previously seemed like science fiction, but such is the speed of this advancement that the 5 per gram guyline ringpull has already been superceded by something even simpler and lighter!!!
