    Question for you hammock-pros:

About a month ago I did my first hang--an ENO Singlenest with no bugnet, my normal 20 degree bag, and a thermarest underneath--and I was plenty warm even though the temps dropped to 40. Am I likely to be ok without an UQ in late Oct. in a double-layer blackbird with a similar setup, or am I gonna freeze my butt off? I'm guessing the temps will probably be in the 30s.

Not all Thermarests are created equal. A ProLite 4 might get you to 30.

Gear I have. I can bring an Exped 9 DLX that should work in the double-layer BB; I can also bring an extra JRB quilt, probably a no-Sniveler.

I can arrange to hang the weekend of Oct 30/31, as business brings me to the general area. Shall we say Velvet Rocks then?

Funny thing, just bought a Prolite 4 on sale at REI. Date and place work for me. Meeting Friday evening, then?

Do folks usually do communal food, or each his own?

There is a slim chance I might be able to make this one. If I do come I will be up on Friday and will have to leave Saturday.

Where is everyone going to park or can someone recommend where to park?

We can do this any way we like. Other hangs I've attended have had some community meal on Saturday p.m. Makes sense if people get to the site at different times on Friday.

    Hey that is cool!

There is a small grocery store with parking lot a hundred yards from where the AT leaves the sidewalk and heads into the trees. I don't know that overnight parking is explicitly forbidden, don't recall signs to that effect.

Worst case, less than 0.5 mile away there is the Hanover town parking garage. Costs maybe $5 to park 24 hours.

I cannot make any promises because I will not know until Thursday night if I have to work on Friday or not.

I have included a Hanover map.

I know there is parking in Lot A if you register with DOC. It would be nice to get a little closer though.

Hey Pineapplenewton. You're from Hanover. Is there any chance you can check with the Co-op Foodstore and see if we can use their parking lot for overnight parking?

That's why we have email on cell phones these days.

That lot is a pretty good hike.

the trailhead is in the lower right corner, where it says "Co-op Service Center".

The Hanover parking garage is close to the Ben & Jerry's on the map. Closer than lot A!

good idea...if we aim to go over to Cardigan on Saturday, then the cars wouldn't be sitting in that lot all weekend...just at night...
