    NY > Fishbrook Pond > Feb 27th - Mar 1st

I am putting together a snowshoe trip for the end of February to Fishbrook Pond on the east side of Lake George. I hope to start in Dacy's Clearing but if the road is closed we will start at the Hogtown parking lot. The hike in is between 4 and 6 miles depending on where we start.

    This is Dacy's Clearing...

Hogtown parking is at the fork in the road...

I'm very interested. Temps at that time of year will be what? Single digit to below zero at night? This is my first winter in the North Country.

I just googled it and it's about 4.5 hours away from me which is at the edge of what I'd be willing to drive. Anyone in the Watertown/Syracuse area that would want to carpool?

Temperature at that time of year will probably be in the mid 20s or so.

Is that the low or the high? I have a 20° UQ that I can double up with my Exped Synmat inflatable pad. I also have a 40° and 15° top insulation that I can double up. Hopefully that would be sufficient. If we're several miles back, there's no escaping back to the truck.

That should be plenty. I have made very similar trips at that time of year with a 20F quilt set supplemented with reflectex and been very comfortable.

Awesome! It will be good to have you. Let me know what you think you may need if you don't have something. I have plenty of gear and may be able to loan you something.
