Hello everyone!! My name is Sodapop from Louisville,Ky. I'm a long distance hiker who has always been a ground dweller. Hoping to change that soon with the help of you all!!!! Any advice, tips, hints please let me know!!! If anyone is having a hang in my are anytime soon I would love to come iand get some wisdom. Currently looking to start hangin with a warbonnet blackbird but not sure about tarps.... Leaning toward superfly but have weight concerns.

The Superfly is a great tarp. It's full coverage and the silnylon packs down nice. It's a highly recommended tarp 'round these parts.
But depending on the type of weather you expect to encounter, it may be more coverage than you need.
And if it is, you may be better suited with lighter options and less coverage.
Cuben fiber is nice and light but doesn't pack down quite as nicely as silnylon and it's a lot more expensive.
The stickies are a great place to start.

My only recommendation would be to go heavy on the research before you begin to purchase.
Hammock hanging is very customizable and there are endless ways to go about it.

Thanks so much. I have been researching heavily for two months. I usually do a month long AT hike every May. For me, I know coverage is extremely important. I'm trying to balance weight and coverage. I'll check the prices of the cuben fiber. What brand of cuben fiber tarp do you use? Very interested since yours has doors. Thnx in advance for any info! Hopefully we will meet on a hang.

I use the Hammock Gear Standard Cuben Fiber Tarp with doors.
It weights in at 6.5oz.
SODAPOP with all your experience you will be hanging and snoring like a pro. Dial in your under insulation in your back yard or where you can bail out if you get CBS cold butt syndrome. Some use pads and some use under quilts and some use both. Almost everyone has a learning curve on under insulation even in the spring.
