Are there any events that happen in the mid-west?

What I was thinking was maybe get together for a hang just as kind of a greet and meet at lets say Lake of the Ozarks State Park for a weekend. After Labor Day the state parks tend to get blissfully deserted. From there we can talk about what kinda outdoor activities we are all interested in and maybe plan an adventure from there. I was thinking Lake of the Ozarks S.P. because it's centrally located and its right on the lake and there are plenty good campsites with trees to hang from. I was also thinking the weekends of Oct. 9-11 or 23-25. Those are the weekends I'm off work.

I thought I'd through this out there. Some of us were kicking around the idea of a Ozark Trail hike and hang in mid November. No detailed plans have been made yet, but it was an idea that garnered some positive responses.

My preference would be the weekend of Oct. 9-11. Will be real close to foliage peak but whatever is most convenient for the group will work for me. I'm pretty flexible on either weekend.

So how do we get this ball rolling?

Sounds like something I could get into. Will have to see what weekend dates are considered before I can commit.

I'd be game for almost any weekend *except for October 9-11* because that is the Northern Hang on the Superior Hiking Trail in Minnesota. So if there's another one or a different date, you can probably count me in.
