    I have very bad customs karma and it always results in me paying approximately 50% on top of the list price.

    Jarbringer = $100
    Shipping to Denmark or Sweden = $36
    Tax and VAT (in Denmark, is the same in Sweden) = $57
    Total: $193

    That's 66% more for an item that costs $116 (including US shipping)

    just received my new river long from Paul. Have not set up yet, but craftmanship looks superb. Also, Paul's customer service is second to none!!! I have a 4 day 3 night trip scheduled in the smokies in 2 weeks so I'll post a review. Thank Paul.

    Just a little bump. We are getting things caught up again and production times are back down around our normal once again. As of today most small orders are taking 2-3 days with some minor exceptions, KAQ's are running 1 week.

    Ok, so I got my Jarbridge yesterday and things aren't quite as bad as you said.

    Apparently I've been bad because my Customs karma did not let me slip by unnoticed, but I only ended up paying $36 for VAT/Fees, roughly one third of that is a fee that the postal service charges you for having to charge you VAT.

    But it could have been worse. In Sweden you pay 25 % VAT on imported items. This is calculated on the value AND the shipping costs. If the value of the imported item is above a certain amount (i think it was 1400 SEK = $162) you have to pay a customs import fee as well. If you have to pay a customs import fee The VAT is then calculated on the total value of the actual product, shipping and customs import fee. In other words if a product imported to Sweden has to high value, be prepared to give Moder Svea (sort of Uncle Sam's Swedish equivalent) her share

    All in all, for me this was a calculated risk but if I'm equally impressed with the UQ as the other forum members seem to be I will still think it's a good deal.

    Cool thing I haven't seen before though is that I could follow my package tracking all the way to Swedish customs. I.e from Mountain Home to Boise to San Fransisco to Amsterdam to Copenhagen to Sweden and through the Customs process. Also I just checked that it now says delivered. Usually the trace ends when the package leaves the states.
