    NJ > Pine Barrens>Wading River>Canoe Trip 2/20 to 2/22

Who: Hard Men (and Women - Transgender welcome too - Should I put this on meetup.com? Where's treywilly when you need him?). Car campers also welcome.
What: Paddle Wading River - 5 miles first day, 9 miles second (more research to come). Start at Speedwell Road, end at Bodine Field. Alternate routes/distances can be considered.
When: Friday, 2/20 to Sunday, 2/22
Where: Camp at Hawkin Bridge on Friday, Bodine Field on Saturday. Both campsites are accessible via car or canoe/kayak.
Why: The Wading River is one of the most popular rivers in the Pine Barrens during the summer, but during the winter, it's deserted. Your own piece of wilderness, all to yourself. If water levels are good, it should be an easy paddle. If water levels are low, I'm not going 'cause it could involve dragging canoes across shallow areas. Homey don't play that in winter.

It would be nice to have a support team at each location to provide fire and perhaps a hot beverage on arrival. If we rent the group site at Hawkin Bridge, we'll sit up on a bluff that might be the second highest point in the Pine Barrens (next to Apple Pie Hill). Bodine Field has some sites right by the river that are pretty awesome too.

I PM'd you that you should grab site 11. I think have some video from a site survey I did that I'll have to review if we need another site. Or perhaps somebody could reconn.

I'm not sure it matters all that much 'cause nobody is gonna be there.

Plan on bringing your own water or boiling water since campsite pumps and personal water filters aren't reliable in freezing weather.

Hard is hard but nearly 8 hours on the water in winter might be crazy!

sounds fun I'm not sure Id do the kayak or canoe part but hanging for a night might work that is if I dont have to work. I need to make a heavier top quilt for my self and a winter tarp.

We certainly qualify as beginners; highly experienced beginners, but nevertheless, beginners!
