    KY > Possible Louisville Hang

Wanting to know if there are any hangers in Louisville and if so would like to try and do a hang this spring.... Maybe Jefferson Memorial or otter creek... Im sure at both these locations we will have to pay.... Otter Creek has a very large primitive camping area... Jefferson memorial has a decent size.... Might be able to hike into the Forest and do a hang... Just post if any ideas or interest.. Thanks

I'd be in. I'm getting married at the end of April with a honeymoon following, so early April or mid May would be better for me, or maybe even mid March if it's warm out.

I was thinking about organizing an afternoon get-together at Cherokee Park when it warms up a bit. It'd be nice to connect with some people and see different setups.

FYI there is a campground at lake Jerico Rec Area off I-71 exit 28 (Henry county). Also could do Deam Lake up in Indiana. I think both are closer than Otter Creek is to Louisville IMO. As far as I remember, Jefferson Memorial forest is strictly for hiking unless you get a group pass (like Boy scout troop). Things change and its been a while since I have met anyone that has actually used the forest.

I've been to Lake Jericho. It's really pretty and there are some nice spots out there to hang.

I am interested if it doesn't conflict with any of my existing trips I have planned.

if anyone is looking to do a 2 night, 3 day like 10 mile hike my gf and i have recently gotten into hammocking after backpacking one night in a standard tent. After one more overnight trip after using a hammock i was hooked. i have a grand trunk single that we actually both fit in very well( my gf and i are both under 150 and 5'9''. id be glad to meet some others and get some tips and maybe learn some more about the gorge or wherever too.

    I'd be interested.

Jefferson has some interesting options, including a group site that has a ton of pine trees scattered throughout. I haven't scouted it specifically for hammock camping, but it's a thought.

I'd love to get out to Otter Creek. Never camped there.

I've been to Deam Lake once, and the campsites there seemed like they were mostly in fields, and on top of each other to boot. No idea of hammock viability or hanging away from an actual site.

Starting March 18 we go every 2 weeks. If this trip does not conflict with the ones already set, I am always up for another weekend trip.
