    Bonefire gear: Winter special project

This is a custom Bonefire Gear that Fireinmybones was so graciously took on as a project. This is not currently available on www.bonefiregear.com.

    Specs:
    9.5ft x 63 inches/ net less /Loft is around 3.5 inches. Rating 5f-0f. However not tested.

Materials 1.1 ripstop double layer coyote brown.
    .67 outer Argon
21oz of 850 Allied Hyperdry down fill
    Warbonnet Strap and buckle suspension

All materials where drop shipped items besides the argon.

Finished weight: 1230g/ 43.4oz/ 2.712lbs. Without dutchware clips and no stuff sack included.

This is my fourth Bonefire gear and my favorite so far. He has made a peak bag on the head end and the ridgeline goes through the noseeum and creates a pocket reverse of most peak bags.

The Bonefire is specially designed not to lay at a hard angle to create a flat lay. It's more of a parallel to the asym. It's very comfortable versus trying to lay at the hard angle.

I have one night so far in this and slept at 28 degrees very comfortably. No drafts of any kind and the down at the feet has no down compression. The differential cuts in the Integrated underquilt is phenomenal. The quilt is full coverage from head to feet on the slight diagonal for me at 5"9 or 69 inches. The biggest thing is this version is wider on the elbows which allows my wider shoulder frame to stretch out. This allows someone with a 50 inch wide top quilt to have no drafts. The underquilt is about 46 inches wide and contours to your body for a right lay (head left feet right).

I plan to really test this quilt on my upcoming roan highlands hang later this month.

Thank you again Fireinmybones for a excellent product and the key design elements you incorporated in the design.

Disclosure: this review was done at my full discretion and I paid full price for all items. Material items are not all standard items and this was a special project that was agreed by both parties.

FYI: this one will not be in the for sale forum

That was a fun one. Thanks for the kind words, Craig. I certainly hope it lives up to the glowing review you've given. This will be a direct preparation for the Roan High Knob Higher Colder Hang. If anyone has any questions, I'm happy to answer them.

If Free Home is approving, I dub this "The Lofty Monster."

Can you elaborate on this? Is it cut differently? Is it the whipping? That would be interesting to know.

Some of it is in the whipping (what I call a soft gather), some of it is the dimensions (I normally use 120"x56", but Free Home wanted it shorter and wider so i tried to keep the ratio similar), some of it is also in the selection of the ridgeline length (closer to 85.5% instead of 83%). When you climb in a Bonefire™ hammock, with the head end hung low, the insulation is easy to find and your body naturally finds the sweet spot pretty quickly.

Lofty Monster sounds appropriate from the pics. Can't wait for the reviews after testing the lower limits of that thing.

Free Home that looks Roan ready. The wind can be wicked up there but your set up looks up to the task. See you there...

Wow that's a great hammock. I like the UQ built right in. It sure looks like the way to go no midnight adjustment to UQ with that system. I can see these hammocks really catching on.
