Thanks Dave for all the links and info!!!! Like Bannerstone said I wouldn't recommend parking on Big Four rd if you haven't been there before, especially in the dark.

I usually come up the east side of the middle loop which is between 4 and 5 miles, it's not a particularly fast hike with a good bit of up and down, figure on at least 2 hours, there will be lots of nice rock formations and in winter interesting ice structures worth stopping for and picture opportunities. Late arrivals can park at the Big Four Hollow Rd. intersection and hike to camp in about 30 minutes. Most of us from past gatherings have exchanged cell numbers and will sometimes firm up arrival times the day before or of if we want to try to hike together, etc. We can PM numbers around as the date approaches. An FYI, once you get onto 278 and start descending into the state forest you won't have cell service. For my carrier the service is really pretty spotty once I exit St. Rt. 33 near Logan. On the good note, I do have service at H camp.

Typically there are trail maps at the registration kiosk but should print one to bring with you in case they are out. Here's the link:

I don't recall doing a pot luck at H camp before, obviously because of the hiking distances but I suppose if someone was coming in from Big Four Hollow Rd. it might be more practical. I'm not sure I'd want to carry a dutch oven that far but there are certainly other options.

One thing I've not done at an Ohio hang that might be kinda fun is to grill steaks. It doesn't require much, a small grill top at most, heck I've seen a steak cooked over a fire on a marshmallow fork before.

For day hikes the north loop is a good scenic hike or if you plan to stay a 2nd night you might just relocate to C camp and have a short hike out to Hope Furnace Sunday morning. Lots of options.

Did I miss any info on water availability on where y'all are looking to camp? Not know the temps for those days....what does everyone do for water?

There is a tap and latrine at each of the 3 sites. Water can get spotty in winter and after weekends as the water is trucked in once a week. We should be good for this time of year.

Every designated camp area has potable water in underground tanks. The pigots are gravity fed.
