Sorry for not updating as much as I would of liked but YES! this hang out is still a go.

What I would like to see is an 'AYE' for all who are attending either through a post or PM so I can get a hand on is planning to be there. Even if you are still tentative send me a message.

Rain or shine I plan to be there Friday for sure.

Are we still planning the weekend of 10/23-25?

Its a bit more challenging since I just found out I have to be in Dallas the entire week preceding . I won't get home until VERY late on Friday night. But if I can convince my loving spouse to grant me an additional two days absence, then I'll show up midday Saturday and spend the night with you all . She's a very patient and loving wife, so I'd say I'm 80% sure of attending.

    OK LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!
    I need some help here!

I need to know who is going to be at the 1st Annual (hopefully more in the future) Mid-West Hang the weekend of OCT 23-25 at the beautiful Lake of the Ozarks State Park.

So far I've got 2 people committing.

Now I know that some are still kicking it around whether they are going to make it or not but I would really like to start getting a handle as to who is serious about showing up to the hang at Lake of the Ozarks State Park.

    FYI,
I emailed the MO Dept of Conservation about using a hammock in any state park and they said that there is no specific rule/law prohibiting hanging a camping hammock from a tree but they do prefer that straps are used to wrap around the tree. No ropes.

So get out those calendars and make that commitment to be there. It would be great to be able to check out everyone's hammock system and get some new ideas or advice on how to do some of all the great DIY projects that is shared here.

My trip to Dallas has been extended; now making it extremely unlikely that I will be able to attend

Sorry -- I appreciate all your work in setting this up (I've been there myself). Hope you otherwise have a good turnout and a great time!

I posted this on the MOTRAILs yahoo group. There seem to be a number of them that are hangers, so I figured they might be interested.

Are there any trails there, or are you all just hanging out?

I have the same question. I like hanging but I'm really a hiker at heart and would love to get some miles in if I were to come.

    The Hang

Ok...It looks like that for many reasons this hang ain't gonna happen. But I'm going to keep trying at a later date but for now it looks like it's going to spring-early summer before I try again.
I do a lot of fall/winter activities and I will post when those happen so it will be an invitation just to show up.
So....The next planned trip is the weekend of November 5th. May be either a short backpacking trip on the Berryman Trail or hike in from Taum Sauk State Park to the Mina Sauk falls then walk to where it intersects with the Ozark Trail past Devils Toll Gate. It might even be a float trip on the Current River from Akers Ferry to Pulltite.
Not sure...but I will post soon when a destination has been decided upon.
