    Cool Hello from Ohio

    Hi all,

I am a fairly new backpacker and have only been using Hammocks for about 2 years. I live in Southwest Ohio and am interested in doing some group hangs this year. Red River Gorge is one of my favorite places but I would like to branch out. I was an ENO guy but just recently(today) purchased a Warbonnett Blackbird xlc 1.1 double. Any advise on this would be great. My wife is also a hammock convert so I am lucky on that. This is a great site.

    Thanks

Just curious, where in RRG do you usually go. If you had to suggest to someone who has never been and wants to go for a 2day 1 night trip, where would you tell them to go?

Welcome from NE Ohio! Check out the Midwest Trip Planning Forum. You will find plenty of Ohio group hangs which are a great way to check out gear and get some tips from seasoned veterans. There is a group hang in the works for March at Zaleski https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ing-Hang-March and April at Mohican https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...gt-April-10-12.

Wow. So many places. Auxier ridge is great but you should pack in water. You could do the reverse and go through Double arch trail to Auxier. Camp down by the stream and pack out to Auxier. Grays arch trail to trail 221(Rough Trail)
    is nice.
Try trail 220(Koomer Ridge trail) to 221 to 226(Buck Trail).

Swift camp creek trail from the wildcat trailhead is a good one. Rugged but really nice stream areas to hang.

Welcome from the PNW! Advice would be to get the SWMBO an UQ (and maybe one for yourself?).
