    Larry from Illinois

I discovered the Forum last year (2014). I have been reading tons and tons of stuff, almost every night. I haven't hung in a hammock yet, but just as soon as the snow melts I'll be venturing out. My wife and I are in our seventies and have just purchased two War Bonnet Black Bird XLC's. We've hung one of them up between two posts in the basement and have begun our dreaming. We have completed the AT from Springer Mountain to Damascus using tents. No more roots, rocks, sloping floors, and wet gear. Our bones just don't like the ground...so....we'll be hanging side by side all the way to Katadin. The XLC's are 11 feet long. What's the best Cuban fiber tarp that will be big enough to keep the rain out? I'm always open to learning new stuff. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Larry from Illinois

Hello Larry and wife and welcome to the forum. I'm 65 and just got my wbbb xlc recently too. Can't help you on the cuben tarp though. I looked at one and it was too "see through" for me, might be just right for you though with your hiking plans. HYOH (hike your own hike)

    Welcome from the PNW.

I have a WB Superfly, which I like; however, the cat's meow are my Hammock Gear Winter Palace(s) in camo. 12' ridgeline, doors on both ends, and a little more depth on the sides. Around 8oz each without lines.
