Thanks for posting the excellent video. Sort of negates the complexity of most systems for hammock suspension. Only down side seems to be weight / volume of the mule tape.

Ahh, but Mule tape is too narrow for tree straps. 1 inch webbing is marginal unless you are working with very big trees. The issue is lbs/square inch.
What I really do not get is if you are trying to attach to a stand why not just use a couple of loops of yacht braid and some steel links? You really don't need to worry about weight. If you are not using a stand then going to straps and buckles will cut the minimum suspension length significantly.
FWIW The problem with dyneema to dyneema is diameter. The material does not like tight bends. Tight is defined in multiples of the diameter of the rope. Find a knot that does not contain a bend looser than 1 diameter. The same problem occurs if bending around a steel pin the same diameter as the rope.
