Talking Giving back-Get into DIY raffle, win a new Singer sewing machine and Diy supplies

Way back when I first joined HF my goal was to learn about making gear. At the time there wasn't much gear available and if you wanted premium gear you had to make it. There was all kinds of excitement from the likes of Griz, Warbonnetguy, Black Bishop, TeeDee and such. There was a great free discussion of how to make gear and what materials to use. The goal was to make the coolest gear around. I entered contests like the Vintage hammock contest that I was very excited to win and created one of my proudest builds, the Bridgeskin.
Now it is many years later and I want to give back with getting others into DIYing. With all the terrific vendors these days it is too easy to give your visa and wind up with a tarp, hammock, or quilt. There is something to be said about saying "I designed and made this". I want to give a new Singer sewing machine delivered to you door along with all the supplies for you to DIY your on hammock from my site. The sewing machine will be SINGER 2259 Tradition Easy-to-Use Free-Arm 19-Stitch Sewing Machine which is a good solid sewing machine delivered to your door. But I also want to send the DIY supplies of your choice from my site to build your hammock. All I need is a wish list of materials needed to make your DIY hammock. Don't leave anything out, from amsteel, to webbing, to hardware, to bugnetting, to thread, to choice of type of fabrics and colors. I will add a zipper if needed and also throw in some ARGON sil to make a stuff sack. I want to know your dream list for making a hammock and I will supply it free along with the new Singer sewing machine. There is absolutely no obligation and the winner will be picked from random by my 8 year old daughter (who doesn't like mean people btw). Raffle will run until February 23rd at which time the winner will be chosen and announced. To enter...

    1. Describe you idea.
    2. Post a materials list from my site

    Example

I would like a cam NylonD 1.6 11 foot hammock. I want a black whoopee hooks suspension with camo 4 foot huggers and it should have Fronkey style bugnet and sew on quilt hooks.

4 yards of camo NylonD 1.6
    12 feet of camo webbing
    30 feet of black amsteel
    spool of black thread
    whoopie hooks
8 yards of Nano no see um
    10 feet of lash it
    4 mini cord locks
    splicing needles
    10 inch loop turner
10 feet of 3/32 shock cord.
    4 sew on quilt hooks.

I would love to see some innovation but a plain hammock is fine. There is no obligation....except pics or it didn't happen.
    Peace Dutch

I would like a reversible 11 ft DL. Argon hammock. One layer would be camo the other layer would be black so that I can choose which layer faces out to match whatever backpack I am carrying lol. I would like whoopie suspension in blaze orange with black tree straps and strap buckles. I would want a fronkey style bug net and a ridge line made of black 7/64 amsteel.

4 yards of camo Argon 1.6
    4 yards black argon 1.6
    12 feet of black webbing
30 feet of blaze orange amsteel
    20 feet black amsteel
    spool of black thread
    Strap buckles
8 yards of Nano no see um
    4 mini cord locks
    splicing needles
    10 inch loop turner
10 feet of 3/32 shock cord.

Btw... Dutch gear is the best! Thanks for the opportunity!

I look forward to seeing what the collective mind of HF comes up with. Good to you, Dutch.

Awesome idea! Very generous of you, Dutch. My lack of sewing machine and sewing-related skills is what has kept me from trying to make a tarp. Here's hoping I come up with a great idea!

What a great contest, and you're very kind for putting it on! I've been waffling back and forth about whether to get into DIY, and this may be the kick in the pants I need to do it.

    Project
I love my current hammock. It's a custom 11' Streamliner by Simply Light Designs, made out of brown PolyD 1.2. Instead of having a cat cut on both of the long sides, it has a knotty mod on one side so I can still fold it over and sit on the side of the hammock. I'd like to make another one of these, but out of the new NylonD 1.0. I want it to have speedhook 2.0 suspension (a guy can dream, right? I can settle for whoopie hooks in the mean time). I'd also like to make a bugnet like the Sheltowee net found in this thread.

    Material List
    -4 yards grey 1.0 NylonD
    -Matching thread
    -10 feet Lash-It
    -6 feet 1/16 shock cord
    -6 mini cord locks
    -15 feet green amsteel
    -15 feet blue amsteel
    -2 whoopie hooks
    -Loop turner
    -Splicing needles
    -6 yards na-no-seeum
    -2 plastic triangles
    -2 mitten hooks
    -6 feet 1/8 shock cord
    -1 ft 0.5" grosgrain
