    Condensation on top of pad

I am fairly new to hammocks, and have been using a pad in it while I save up for an underquilt. The only problem that I have found is that each night I lay in the hammock, I have found condensation around my head, making my pillow rather damp. From looking at other forum threads I can see that condensation is fairly common with ccf pad users, but I was curious to know if there was anything I could do to lessen or eliminate the chance of it. If it helps, the nights that I have been trying it out have been roughly in the mid 40s, and I haven't noticed any difference between using a tarp or going without.

The only thing I can think of would be to have a fan constantly blowing on top of you aimed at the area where there is condensation.

Not much you can do. Maybe a piece of fleece to soak up the condensation.

    Is this perspiration or condensation?

Either way, having a wicking material between you and the pad may help. Maybe you already do.

Generally condensation is the biggest problem when the temperature drops below the Dew Point which is relative.
Perspiration / respiration is a continuous process, even while sleeping, at least as long as you are alive.

Wouldn't this just result in laying on a wet piece of fabric?

Best you can do is wait for the UQ

Of course, you could ask those fellas who will adamantly say that they don't need a UQ because they never get condensation in their pads how they do it-------

I wrap the CCF pad in flannel (an old flannel sheet) - the flannel is damp in morning but everything else is dry.
Others have used fleece wrap to put some distance between you and the condensation.

Try it If you have a flannel sheet or fleece blanket around.

Peeps that sleep in VB clothing don't get moisture on their pads.

My first and last attempt using a ccf pad I woke with a soaking wet down bag from my behind to the middle of my back. I got out of the hammock and had puddles on the pad. Inside test hang. I sweat WAY to much when I sleep to use a pad. I made a no sew PLUQ until I can afford a proper quilt. For me, pad = sleeping wet.

Well, I suppose you are right to a point, but the fleece or other wicking layer should help dissipate the moisture as it accumulates, instead of it just accumulating on top of a piece of CCF or an Inflatable.
You're probably the only one who can determine exactly what works for you.

I guess I would rather be on damp flannel that can move the moisture, than being on a wet pad.
