    Cheap top quilt options?

So, I was bopping around ebay and I saw these...
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Season-Win...item20f518c187

Basically, "down" bags and comforters for about $90. Now, they ARE duck down, and ARE 20% down and 80% feather, but I'm wondering how they compare to the Wallyworld ozark trail bag in the same price bracket?

Picked up a Kelly 20* down bag from rei for $125. So 90 isn't that great of a deal.

As insulation goes, you generally pay for what you get.

On one end, use anything you have or can get your hands on, wool blanket, fleecie, CCF pad, old sleeping bag.

The other end, 800-900 FP DryDown TQ or UQ from just about any of our HF vendors.

Don't spend too much time kicking that horse much between the two. It is dead.

Making Insulation, unless wishing to enjoy the pride of making something, simply isn't cost efficient. You won't save the $$'s you hoped, and the level of craftsmanship you receive from our vendors, can be extremely hard to replicate, without a lot of practice and patience.

    Hopefully it wasn't 20% down.

At worst, when looking for down bags or quilts from non-hammock related sources, look for an 80/20 split of down/feathers. 80% down is the bottom end of effectiveness for packing and hiking and greater than 20% feathers just makes it more likely when packing to have damage when stuffing your quilts.
Enjoy and have fun with your family, before they have fun without you
