As a retired Pest Control Operator, I will chime in and say that the best use for un-needed mixtures is to apply them according to label instructions.

Do you have any friends with houses? A simple application to the lower exterior walls is an approved use, but permethrin has a short lifespan and will quickly break down. So be it.

Permethrin spray is harmful to aquatic life, and can cause health problems in avians and felines.

And the drain is NOT an approved method of disposal.

I found permethrin at a local Tractor Supply store. Look in the animal care section at any farm store.

Got any friends or family with horses or other livestock? That's a very suitable use, and you can get rid of a lot of it that way.

If you don't know anyone that qualifies a call to the local vets or giving it away on Craigslist or Freecycle might pair you up with someone who can use it.

It's bug season in Florida already?

I know a lot of people like to soak items in permethrin solution, but I find spraying to be equally effective. I just lay the stuff out in the yard and use one of those garden sprayers. That way you don't end up with a bunch of waste.

I'm significantly more paranoid about bugs than your average person, science be darned. I slept outside this past weekend to test my quilts in 28 degree weather, and still couldn't bring myself not to use my bug net.

Interesting, it provides guidelines for disposing of the container that the permethrin came in, but not for the chemical itself.

Thin it down with more water and spread it around a large grassy area, not near a water source.

Put it in a spray bottle or 2 and use it on items in the future, hats, socks, backpacks etc. Alot of the commercially available permethrin come in Spray bottles anyway.
