    New Kammock Quilts

Just received a promotional email from Kammock about a new topquilt and underquilt that are available for pre-order.

They seem to be using quite a bit of marketing jargon in their descriptions... I'm not quite sure what "Constructed with Insotect Flow™ technology" means, but i doubt it makes the Koala underquilt worth $329. Also, 750 down and a 30 degree rating.

Has anyone seen either of these at demos anywhere and can give some more info?

Like ENO, they market to people who don't know much about hammocks or underquilts. That's a pretty outrageous price for a 30* UQ.

Interesting, all their previous products have been launched via Kickstarter. Guess they've realised they've annoyed enough people by never delivering on time and their atrocious customer service that another Kickstarter campaign wouldn't be practical.

Not surprised they have quilts now. The price is where I expected they would put it. There's a market and they want a piece I guess.

I have a Kammock Roo, and it is a very comfortable hammock, though a bit pricey. I got the email for their TQ and UQ the other day and went to their site. The prices for either product, for the specs they provide, are extremely high. I have not had a problem with their customer service, but I may be in the minority.

"through the use of Vertical Thermal Channels (VTC’s) and Flowgates™. Heat rapidly spreads through the under quilt "

Just what is needed, an UQ designed to spread the heat away from us to the cold unused areas of the UQ.

Just sounds like a fancy term for walled baffles to me.

Seriously over priced, heavy and annoying jargon that doesn't mean much to anyone. "The best quilt trail rated quilt ever produced"... I hardly think so.

The reflective ripstop could be interesting though.

I got in on the KickStarter "deal". I believe they have missed their estimated delivery date by about a year and a half. Maybe the TQ will arrive sometime THIS year. But, when I had a Roo (thank God for REI's return policy), it did seem better constructed than ENO. And their python straps (like ENO Atlas straps) are currently my "go to" suspension system. Note that the FireBelly TQ was "only" $125 when offered via kickstarter.

The price is high but to be fair, you have to keep in mind that our frame of reference is the wonderful world of cottage vendors. This is designed to be a retail product and has to be priced accordingly. Doesn't necessarily change the end assessment, but just food for thought. This is also one of only two commercially available UQs I know of. As skills and manufacturing processes get better and more efficient, the price will probably nudge down.
