A decent DIY tarp will cost you about $65 - $75 for materials - 8 yds silnylon, D-rings/Line Locks, backing material, guy lines & suspension, shipping.

I made one of these using DIYGEAR'S plan. Depending on the length of your hammock, you may need to adjust the ridgeline length. Also, make sure you account for the rolled hem in your measurements. Better to add an inch and a half or else your tarp may lack in coverage a bit.

I used Sunkmail's pattern which is a variation of the DIYgearsupply one. If I remember correctly the doors are extended slightly. I highly recommend an external pole mod for these style tarps. It really opens them up.

Someone on this forum made a lightweight Asym tarp with "doors", named elyandste1 on Youtube, but for the life of me I can't seem to find the write up he did, or his username. I think he used a 5x9 parallelogram Similar to the DIY gear Supply pattern, but he added 18" tall doors. I'm thinking about making one or two for a friend and I, so we can hang in this sleeting weather. I'll probably make the doors a tad longer and and not do it in camo. Here's a link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tVQKQisW_5w

EDIT: Okay just found what I was talking about, I think I'm linking it now. https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...th-side-panels

I made one using the diy supply plans. Be aware that the doors on that do not fit all the way together on the ends. I have no idea why that is. Maybe I don't have it set up correctly but mine don't anyway. uploadfromtaptalk1425073994988.jpg

It's a nice tarp. But I can see at a first glance that you drifted away from the diygs plans. The distance between your tie outs is much more than 74" and I think even more than 92". This is the reason why you can't close your doors. There are two ways how you can fix this problem. Make the set up of the tarp steeper or add another triangle to your doors.

I also increased the tie-out pitch in my first plan and I was bound on the format of a nice 157" x 118" ripstop polyester camo blanket which I bought very cheap on Ebay. However, I'm sure that I can close my doors. You can find my plan in one of my images. Print it out and make a paper model. Then you can see it works. The distance between my tie-outs is 86" and the rl-length is 126" (10.5'). It's a shorted mixture between the superfly format and the diygs plans.

My next shot on a silnylon winter tarp will be a RL length of 132", distance between tie-outs 92" and distance between door corners 168". Distance between end of RL to door corners (diagonal) 48", distance between tie-outs and door corners (diagonal) about 42". Take a circle than you can determine the door format and guess what it is.

Here's the latest tarp with doors that I've made using modified plans from DIY gear Supply:
