Just made a set of 1/8" Whoopies and those things are huge! I never really paid any attention to my 7/64" whoopies before but when I put them side by side, the 1/8" seems like ski rope in comparison. Anybody else using 1/8"?

If you think those are big, you should see my first set of whoopies that I made. I accidentally ordered 7/16" amsteel instead of 7/64" amsteel. You can suspend a car from those whoopies!!
What did you use to splice it? I have not had a lot of luck with my splicing hook on the bigger stuff.

I used 1/8" for Whoopies on my hammock and it hasn't let me down yet. Getting 900 lbs of extra capacity for 1/64" was just too appealing to my "when in doubt, empty the magazine" side. I did use 7/64" for my tarp ridgeline, though. I know many people use much smaller lines, but I hang a variety of gear from my continuous ridgeline and didn't want to have any concerns about loading and I very much wanted minimal stretch.

K thanks. I'll give that a shot.
Another thing that helps splicing 1/8" amsteel that I forgot to mention: before you try pulling the line into itself for the bury you can expand the opening hole by pushing a tapered object (like a sharpened pencil) into the weave where your splicing hook or wire will be inserted. This will help you get it started. Once inside the weave just gently pull and twist. I find it goes in without a problem.
