    Newbie from Louisiana

Brand new to hammock camping and getting back into hiking and camping after quite a while. Actually, I'm expecting my first hammock to be delivered by this Monday. It's an ENO Doublenest, along with some other needed bushcraft gear. Still thinking of the suspension I will use but am hoping to give it a try this next weekend. I'm located in Natchitoches, Louisiana near Kisatchie National Forrest and Toledo Bend Lake. I also have a kayak that I would like to mix with hammock camping, fishing, and hunting. I would enjoy connecting with others in my area to learn from each other and have a great time outdoors.

You are in a great area. If you plan on backpacking Kisatchie has a few nice trails.

    Have fun.

    Welcome aboard.

I'm one of your neighbors in Mississippi and also have a doublenest. If the forest trees are as close together in LA as they are in MS, the short length of the doublenest may serve you well.

I'd have had to walk on by most of the places I've hung if I had one a couple of feet longer.

Thanks for the welcome and encouragement. My Doublenest and gear arrived today. Now I need to get some kind of rope or webbing for a suspension.

    Welcome Newbie!

I am also pretty new here, but recently made my own whoopie slings and I am quite proud of them. I just did a youtube search on how to do it and ordered the supplies from Dutch, along with some nice Dutchware bling. Now I'm set up and couldn't be happier!

You better quit while you are ahead. It will never end

Amsteel, poly tree straps, and some thin wire and you have whoopies, continuous loops and addiction. Find some youtube videos and have fun.
