I use a modified spliced bury a bit like you'd find on a Utility Constrictor Rope (UCR). It took a bit of effort to figure out how long to make the bury so it would hold (because of this), but once I did I'm pretty happy with how they turned out.

The included photo shows just the top and bottom ends of the same guy line. The top end attaches via larks head to the tarp tieout and provides initial tension, and the bottom end goes to the stake and provides self-tensioning as the tarp loosens up.

Note that as others have kindly pointed out, my bury doesn't have tension on both sides to lock the bury uniformly from each end. The tail in the upper right hand corner of the photo isn't taut, so that cuts down on the effective grip of the bury by a large margin. This doesn't pose much of an issue in a guy line application, but you wouldn't want to make a bury like that which needed to hold your weight.

Read the thread I linked above for some other really good no-hardware/no-knot guy line ideas from other forum members. Floridahanger's prusik idea (shown in gmcttr's photo) is particularly good, yet very simple. It'd be slightly more of a pain to add and remove to your tie-outs than my current solution, but less can go wrong with it, and what can go wrong can be easily fixed in the field.

I tinker around with rigging quite a bit, this is my latest setup (split rings and mini-line loks) I plan to convert over the rest of my tarps. The line is a little pricey though, it's the stuff Fireinmybones likes but you could use anything really.

I like this setup because I don't don't bother to wrap my lines and this is a less tangley setup, plus no knots to tie or stuck prusiks. Another big plus is that you can get it pulled down almost tight to the ground if you need to.

What exactly is the black wrap around your lines?

Neat setup. I use the linelocs from ducthware and I think they would work well with a tarp set up like in the video.

I just installed the Liberty Mountain tensioners you have in the picture on my new SuperFly tarp. I'll be testing them in 2 weeks, will let you know how they work.
