Backpack

After you have your camp set up and are ready to go to sleep what do you do with your pack? All I have left in my pack is my kitchen, First Aid kit, hygiene kit, and water bottles. What are some options that have worked for you?

I either use my old Eno singlenest (which seems like a burlap sack compared to the Ticket To The Moon hammock. They may look similar but wow..!) and just stuff it underneath me if the weather is going to be bad, set it in a camp chair if I didn't bring the Eno (Little Joey Travel Chair), or if it's going to be good weather and not likely munched by bears and such I simply lash one of my trekking poles to a tree and hang it on that.

Generally under my hammock at the foot area. If it isn't raining I will often have it right outside the hammock where I can reach it. I have hung it on the suspension but if it is windy, it bother me if it is swinging around.

It all depends on weather and if I'm in bear territory. Occasionally, if real nice weather, I'll leave it hang.

Generally, I place under my hammock on a ground sheet. This way I can reach under to retrieve anything I want (however, it's usually mostly empty).

On the ground under my hammock. In general I am hanging next to, or above a downed tree so it is usually on that to facilitate ease of reach.

In good weather, I usually hang it on the foot end tree (don't ask me why) usually off one of the suspensions using a dim (do it myself) Big Carl pack hanger. Even in bad weather I will hang it there and put a pack cover over it. I have on occasion (usually not when I'm going very light backpacking) I will stow it in a gear hammock under my regular hammock. In very bad weather, it is under my hammock on a piece of tyvec. It sometimes depends on my location i.e. if it's going to rain and there is a depression underneath me, I don't want my backpack there where a puddle could form..

I have hung it from the suspension at the foot, placed under the hammock or if I know it isn't going to rain and I won't need anything I usually just hang off a tree with some cord.

The backpack stays right underneath the hammock for me. I usually lean on a log or something if I can.

I use my pack cover with its cord drawn up partially hanging from my suspension as a mini-hammock. Works great for my boots as well.

I hang my pack using a toggle and martingale on or very near either of the hammock suspension trees. The pack cover generally goes on at night regardless of the weather forecast.

I also use a "gear hammock". It's just a 2' x 4' piece of ripstop with loops sewn on the corners that I suspend near the hammock. It only costs a few ounces, but makes it very easy to find anything I need while keeping all my stuff in one place.
