Looking for very thick foam pad

He told me that the only place restrictions are in effect (2007) was in the very high use areas. I guess it's possible that it's only at a few of the most popular campgrounds. But then again, my information is a couple of years old now.

Regardless of any existing regs, more often than not, my experience has been most actual rangers are pretty forgiving in person if they see you're not being destructive. The folks that answer the phones are just downright mean.

I had several self-inflatable pads before switching to a Big Agnes Insulated AirCore. Fairly light, packs small, not as crinkly loud as the NeoAir. Not wide enough for 2, but my wife and I used two of them in our Big Agnes double bag and were quite comfy...or so we thought until hanging. But they were WAY more comfortable than our thermarest self-inflatables.

Also the BA can be used well in a hammock.

Rules weren't/aren't the same. Shenandoah was the only NP I've been to that I could take my dog on the trails...

As for the OT, there's lots of online suppliers of foam or all types and thicknesses. A Google search will turn them up quickly. I've also seen thick foam at Michaels, an arts and craft chain. Thanks for the info. I ended up getting REI version of the dreamtime. It's thicker and 100$ cheaper than the Dreamtime. I'll also bring my hammock set up and use it where I can.

I've read somewhere recently that it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.
