    Bridge Hammock Hang Criteria

I have built two bridge hammocks using Hikingdads videos. I am working out the kinks at home and have been struggling to get a good hang given my on site constraints. Thinking about sinking a couple of posts. Recommendations on distance apart and how high up the post I should attach my suspension.

    Thanks.

If you haven't done so already, go play with the hang calculator at the Ultimate Hang website. It will give you all the information you need.

    Cheers

I have the application on my iPhone. I was assuming it was written for gathered end type hammocks. Bridge hammocks seem a little bit different in their hanging characteristics. Am I making a incorrect assumption?

It depends on your bridge hammock. What are it's dimensions? Spreader bar length? How long are your suspension triangles?

Generally I find a bridge needs to be strung up a bit tighter when unloaded, as they tend to sag lower than a GE once loaded.

Can you describe the problems you're having?

Not really having problems. I just need to put up something on my property to let me test out the bridge. I will lay out the hammock and figure out something. Just thought there might be some guidelines for the optimum dimensions for bridge hammocks. Thanks for your feedback.

Oh, by "working out the kinks" I thought you were having some problem.

Basically as long as your post's are further apart than your minimum hang distance, you're good to go. And for how high? Probably between 5-6 feet.

My stand is 12ft from hook to hook, and about 5ft tall. My bridge hammock's have about 11ft ridgeline length (apex to apex)

Thanks. The video really helped my understanding of the different hanging criteria. I exchanged a PM with Derek yesterday. He is adding the bridge design criteria to his next update of his hang calculator. Thanks to all.
