    DIY carbon tarp stakes 4g

I have bought some carbon tarp pegs for MSR I think. Real short but real light weight.
Living here in Florida the ground is soft and damp all year round. Longer or V-stakes work the best. I have lost some of my stakes lately after switching to Dutch tarp worms. The shock cord shoots those light small stakes to the moon or something.

Instead of just ordering more and continuing the problem. I had some carbon arrow shafts hanging around from some toggles I made. I cut 6 peg bodies to 8". Then sanded the end at an angle and sealed it shut with super glue. The other end was sealed up with superglue and an 1/8th inch hole was drilled through the stake near the top. I recently got some orange 1.18mm glow paracord and used that as a loop to hook my tarp tie outs to. Working good so far I'll test them out in the next 3 weekends.

    Oh only 4g each.

    Very nice!

I did something similar last summer, using fiberglass tent poles cut down to about 8". Not as light as yours I'm sure, but they've worked well.

Got stepped on. Epic fail. Fragile with sideways force.

You could try adding some rigidity by filling them with spray foam.
A hanging, though, was something different. I got to thinking. We hadn’t never been to nothing just to have a good time. A hanging was special and we was all getting to go.

Carbon arrows only like force in one compressing direction. they are actually designed to break laterally. Cutting up an old fishing poles or a set of golf clubs and maybe the solution.
