I will be bringing my 21 year old son. We will put our heads together and figure out what to bring and then add it to the spreadsheet. Look forward to meeting everyone and thanks for having us

The Mrs has respectfully declined. The kids will just be getting back back from the Dominican mission trip. She doesn't want to be gone that weekend.
I'm still attending...I really, really, really like Jeremy's chili.

I'm sorry that we will not be able to meet your wife. The chili will be there. I took my "Triple Threat" version to a chili competition at Quest Brewery and took People's Choice.

Congratulations on the chili competition Mr. FIMB. Triple Threat sounds like my kind of chili.

    Thank you, both.
It has three beans (navy, red kidney, and black), three chilis (jalapeno, poblano, and chipotle), three meat (bacon, ground sirloin, marinated grilled chicken), and some additional veggies thrown in.

Not the best for hotdogs, but good for a cool winter day.

    Cedar Rock Day Hike
    Recon Completed

Are we packed yet?? It's less than 90-days until the John Rock Hang.

Running Feather and I found a 'safer' way to summit Cedar Rock from the Enchanted Forest while you're attending the John Rock Hang.

As usual we decided to turn a dayhike into an overnight backpacking trip...

    From the Enchanted Forest -
It's about a 5 mile round trip (give or take a mile, mile n a half) with no ropes needed and good trails all the way. Some steep spots but nothing technical and nothing 'stoopid steep'. Yep. Summit of Cedar Rock is over 4000 ' elevation. Enchanted Forest is about 2600 ' elevation

If you can hike to the top of John Rock then you can probably enjoy this hike too. The Cedar Rock Hike is a bit longer and the elevation gain from camp to the summit is just shy of 1,400 '. Took us only about 1.5 hours to the summit (yes, I'm a slow hiker). The views from the summit of Cedar Rock are spectacular too!

And take all the water with you that you'll need (And your Essential Ten). Just be careful up there... rolling down the side of a pluton is not recommended (Ask John.... Oh wait! John was a mule).

Now you have even more choices when you attend The John Rock Hang! Hike to John Rock, Hike a bit more to Cedar Rock, or, if you're professionally trained, then hike to the base of Looking Glass Rock and do a little climbing. Plus any of another about 135 more nearby trails to choose from...

Here's the Cedar Rock Recon for those considering the hike:

Thank you Daryl, Daryl, Daryl, ------------and Daryl! You guys are killing me! All I have down in SE GA is rain, swamp, and skeeeeeters. Got to get to high ground soon or go "nuts".
Oh yeah. Thanks for another good vid.
Maybe, just maybe, I might get to the hang. Its either that or I will be heading to Katahdin to start a south bound long section down to Harpers Ferry. Family is still driving my bus --- I'm just along for the ride.
