Hey and welcome to the forums! I've not been to Dunoon since I was at Benmore centre in high school. Incredible scenery and forests there though, and yeah, loads of places to hang.

Benmore, well Lock Eck is my favourite place in Cowal. From the high tops of the surrounding hills to the beaches on the west shore....its stunning. I've started to stay local now since starting a family, but there's so much to explore and do. I keep a record on my Explore Cowal blog, just my personal account of time exploring the area.

Like many, Scotland is on my bucket list. I can only imagine how beautiful kayaking the coast and lochs must be. Have you read the book "On Celtic Tides: One Man's Journey Around Ireland by Sea Kayak" by Chris Duff? Great read and gets the mind planning similar adventures.

Keep up posted on how your first hang goes (provide pictures or it didn't happen!).

I've not read the book, but I have made plans to paddle the coast of Cowal where I stay. It's roughly 136 miles long so plenty scope for overnighters with the hammock.

Will get some pics and report on my first hammock outing.

Welcome Fraser. I'm also anticipating my first hang here in Scotland but wimped out recently in constant wind and rain! Looking forward to seeing photos of your first hang and maybe getting ideas of good locations.
