How much does 1in tubular webbing weigh?

I just bought 24ft of sterling 1in tubular webbing for hanging my hammock. I really wanted to do whoopie slings but I'm new to this so I wanted to keep the cost down. I don't mind the extra weight anyway. Does anyone know how much the sterling 1in tubular web in weighs per foot?

Quite a bit. About 3 times what a good flat polyester webbing would. It will also likely stretch on you as its nylon deigned for climbing not hammock suspension. If you can it would be best to cancel the order and get some polyester webbing like all of us vendors sell. It will weigh less pack smaller and not stretch out on you.

Mr. Arrowhead knows what he's talking about. I have played around with slacklines made from 1" tubular climbing webbing and it is amazing how much it stretches when supporting 200 pounds. I think you will be disappointed half way through the night when your angles all change on you.

One inch tubular webbing weighs 12.85 grams per foot versus 7.75 grams per foot for 1 inch polyester webbing.

Thanks. You are probably right. I weighed tree straps that had a lot of stitching with heavy thread in them and were slightly more burly than the camo straps I usually use. I agree nylon stretches and flat poly straps are much lighter.

If you have already purchased the tube webbing, and cannot return it, there are a lot of little uses for it in hiking and sports like that. It makes great handles for things, or carry straps. you could also use it for exercise/ stretching straps. Its great for a lot of things. Hammocks just are not among them.

It shouldn't have been terribly expensive. So if you can't return it and if you know any climbers they'll pick it off you. Never hurts to replace some anchors.
