    MA > Mt Greylock>April 18-20>Hike and Hang

The original location of NH has been changed to Mt Greylock in MA please refer to post #29 and later for relevant info if interested.

Just putting out a feeler for this date. I have a long weekend that week. I'll be heading up there for some hiking and hanging, figured I'd see if anyone wants to join in or offer suggestions.
I'd like to do a couple nights backpacking, possibly incorporating a 4ker or two.

My question is what are the trails like that time of year. Are the water crossings high at this point?
Thinking one possibility is an overnighter of owls head.
    Thanks

Check out Evans Notch Wild River Campground. There is plenty of nice opportunities there. I don't know if the road gate will be open by then but either start from the gate and toward the Wild River Campground or drive to the campsites and do various hikes from there.

Yes. great idea. Let's bring portable hammock stands on this hike and pitch somewhere near Mt.Adams :-)

Dude you've hiked with me before I think that one will take me three nights. haha

Just to help qualify suggestions, when going up mountains is involved, I'm only good for and shooting for about ten miles per day.

The Whites are likely to be a wicked mess in mid-to late April. I wouldn't bet on the road thru Evans Notch being open.

I'd head further south... Or further north if you're looking for winter.

This is kinda what I am worried about, I've never been up there this time of year so I'm not sure how muddy and swampy things get while everything is thawing.
