    Exclamation New Blackbird buckles

Just received my Blackbird 1.1 dbl and Yeti UQ about an hour ago. Thought I'd upload a picture of the new buckles. Sorry about the pic I had to use my cell camera.

they are almost the same weight as the regular cinch buckle (they are a gram or so lighter), but i'm working on a custom buckle that will be very similar but hopefully about as light as a set of tri-rings

i've run into trouble getting more of the welded triangles

the nes ones are nice because most folks don't need to tie the backup knot. i've never heard a report of a cinch buckle slipping, and i personally had me and my wife in a traveler hammock bounceing up and down and couldn't get these to slip.

I would be very interested to upgrade to these on my BB. In my opinion the backup knot really detracts from the ease of use for the webbing suspension approach. My triangles always slip a lot without it, and the slippery half hitch needs to be pulled tightly against the triangle buckle to be effective. What's the point of carrying that extra weight if you have to un-do a knot and then re-tie one every time you make an adjustment? The slipped buntline knot on the line/strap option is not really that much more difficult to tie.

I don't mind the half hitch on the tri-rings so I will probably switch out these new bison buckles in favor of the triangles.
