Why does my Incubator smell bad?

    Title says it all.

Got my Incubator 10* 3 days ago. Since then it's been hanging on my XLC in my attached garage. Today I noticed that the garage smelled funny, I traced the smell to my UQ. it smells pretty bad. Like a wet dog. I'm sure it's dry. Is this normal? What gives?

Is this your first down quilt? Some people with hypersensitive noses find that down smells like goose. Those same people usually find that wool smells like sheep.

    Funny.

Not my first piece of down gear. I have two down sleeping bags that don't stink. I have not smelled this before from a piece of gear. Anyone else have any thoughts?

The problem has been discussed in the past. My internet connection is weak, so I can not look for the discussion, however if you do a search of HF you will find the smell has been documented and recognized.

Thanks for the post. I searched before starting the thread but couldn't find anything. After your post I did some more digging and found a thread about it. Sounds like a hit or miss issue and just something that I'll have to live with. Strange I've never had this smell with any of my other down products. Man, it stinks though. Pungent. Just so happens that wet dog is one of my least fav smells. For a spendy UQ, this is a bit disappointing. (also not a fault of HG. Sounds like it's just a natural goose smell)

My WL underquilt came with a strong smell. It got weaker after a couple of times of use - and after a washing it doesn't smell any stronger than my other down gear. If the smell is really bad, try washing it.

After reading this I went and did a sniff test of my new Incubator 20 degree short that I got last week. No bad smell at all. Weird!

I was gonna say that it probably comes from hotboxing farts, but maybe that's just my problem...
